Free trial at launch

Chwilio is free during the beta. When it ships, a free trial takes its place — it doesn't expire, it's just capped: one database at a time, two table tabs, and no extension loading or import/export. Browsing, querying and editing are unrestricted. No credit card to start.

Pricing questions

What does '1 year of updates and support' mean?

You get every update released within a year of purchase, plus email support for that year. After it expires, you keep using the version you last downloaded — forever, no time bomb. Want another year? Buy again any time at the reduced existing-customer price.

How do I get more updates after my year ends?

Just buy again from your dashboard at the existing-customer offer price — Basic $29, Standard $49, Team $99 (+$29 per extra seat) — to extend your update window another year. It's not a subscription: nothing auto-charges, and your existing license never stops working.

Who handles checkout and licensing?

Paddle. As the Merchant of Record, Paddle — not me — handles payment, taxes, EU VAT, and license keys. Your invoice and license manager come from them.

How do Team seats work?

Standard includes 2 seats, and Team is a one-time purchase with a 3-seat minimum. Extra Team seats are roughly $49 each. Assign and remove seats any time through Paddle's license manager. Every seat gets the full app — no feature gating.

Can I switch tiers later?

Yes. Upgrading from Basic to Standard just pays the difference. Moving a personal license to Team starts a fresh Team purchase — email me and I'll sort out the difference cleanly.

Why no free tier?

Loading custom extensions means running unsandboxed, which rules out the Mac App Store. I'd rather ship one focused native tool than carve it into a free tier with the good parts locked away. There's a free trial at launch, and the beta is free today.

Is there an education or open-source discount?

Yes — 50% off Basic and Standard for students, educators, and open-source maintainers. Ask via the contact form and I'll send a discount code.

What payment methods are accepted?

Whatever Paddle accepts in your region — cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, and local methods in supported countries. Taxes are calculated and collected by Paddle at checkout.
